This project is meant to be, first of all, cheap and simple enough to build for people with some skill in electronics. It's also meant to be free in the spirit of the free software on which it is based. The hardware is mostly just standard PC stuff and you should be able to get it quite cheap if you don't already have the stuff lying around. If you can't handle a soldering iron and etch a simple circuit board this project is not for you. If you do start building you own I'd really like to hear from you, maybe I'll make a gallery section here with some photos and information about players you build. If you run into problems building the project feel free to mail me also, just don't blame me if you fail :-) I'll try to help you out as best I can...     Now, bring out the popcorn and start reading!
